On November 21st, 2019, nine female engineering students participated in the FIA Girls on Track activity as a part of Formula E event in Diriyah, Riyadh. Part of the FIA mission is to drive female talent, inspiring the next generation to challenge preconceptions and prejudices in the world of motor sport and in STEM careers.
The trip included multiple activities such as experience the racing seat of a kart on the karting track, take part in our medical response and resuscitation challenge, try their hand at sports journalism by presenting a piece on camera, and take part in several engineering-based activities and experiences in a racing pit lane by performing a pit stop challenge. The students had good discussions with the competing teams on the electrical cars in general, their efficiency and common problems faced with the battery.
