Run4Rare Community Run Promotes Rare Disease Awareness

On February 22nd, Alfaisal University proudly hosted the Run4Rare Event, a race and awareness initiative in honor of International Rare Disease Day. This collaborative effort between Alfaisal University, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC) and King Faisal Foundation (KFF) aimed to raise awareness about rare diseases and support those affected by these conditions. The event featured a spirited run that brought together students, faculty, and community members, all united for a common cause. Participants of all ages laced up their running shoes to show their support, embodying the spirit of solidarity and awareness. In addition to the run, the event featured a wide range of educational and fun activities designed for all age groups, including various booths focused on raising awareness about rare diseases. These booths, organized by the Medical Student Association (MSA) at Alfaisal, provided essential information on rare diseases while highlighting the vital roles of research, education, and community support. Charities and organizations, such as the Amal Initiative, were also present, offering valuable resources and insights into the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by these conditions. The Run4Rare event not only highlighted the need for increased awareness about rare diseases but also cultivated a sense of community and collaboration among participants. Coinciding with the Saudi Foundation Day weekend, the race provided a meaningful way for families to spend the break while supporting an important cause. As we continue to support initiatives like this, we reinforce our commitment to health promotion, community engagement, education, and advocacy.
